Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 foldable phones

After weeks of anticipation, Samsung has finally announced the next generation of its foldable smartphones . There were all sorts of rumors leading up to the Galaxy Unpacked Event, and now Samsung has made the official Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

What's new with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3?

Samsung announced its new flagship foldable phone, and it has some pretty impressive specs. But before we get to those, you're probably wondering about the price:Samsung is launching the Galaxy Z Double 3 starting at $1,799.99. That's a bit cheaper than the previous generation phone, which launched at $1,999.99. Coming out of the gate $200 cheaper could be a big deal as it makes folding technology affordable for more people.

As for the specifications, Samsung packed almost everything under the hood of this phone. Starting with the screen, the company listed a 7.6-inch foldable screen as the main display option. That screen boasts a 2208 x 1768 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

There's also a 6.2-inch outer screen, which is larger than many of the main screens on most phones. The external screen is also 120Hz, and has a resolution of 2268 x 832.

Processor-wise, there's a 64-bit 5nm octa-core processor supplying the power for the massive displays. There's also 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, depending on which model you get. Samsung is running a UI based on Android 11 out of the box.

The triple camera system looks solid, though it won't necessarily blow you away. There is a 12MP ultra wide, 12MP wide and 12MP telephoto lens on the back of the phone. It also comes with a 4MP under-display camera and a 10MP selfie camera.

Keeping this strong phone alive for as much of the day as possible is a dual 4,400mAh battery system. There's also 25W wired fast charging, 10W fast wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse charging to keep your other devices going.

As is always the case with new high-end phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with support for 5G connectivity , so as long as you have that where you live, you'll get the fastest possible data speeds.

Samsung announced three colors for the device- phantom black, phantom green, phantom silver.

Overall, it looks like Samsung did an excellent job of increasing the power and specs of the Galaxy Z Double 3 while dropping the price slightly. But will the drop in price be enough to entice buyers who have been reluctant to drop $2,000 on a phone? We'll have to wait and see.

Not content to release a single foldable phone, Samsung also announced the Clanchell-designed Galaxy Z twist. It's quite a bit cheaper than the Fold 3, which comes with a $999.99 price tag, which is a price that consumers are much more comfortable with in terms of flagship phones.

As for displays, Samsung brings a 6.7-inch 120Hz primary display with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 to the table. On the outside, there's an adorable little 1.9-inch screen with a 260 x 512 resolution. Don't let the low resolution fool you because it's still a pixel density of 30 ppi.

The Power This phone is the same 64-bit 5nm octa-core processor as its big brother, so you're still going to get plenty of performance. However, the RAM is reduced to 8GB, which is still pretty solid. For internal storage, you can snag 128 or 256GB.

There is a 10MP selfie camera and two 12MP cameras on the back of the phone.

As this phone is substantially smaller, it also comes with a much smaller 3,300mAh battery. Still, that should provide plenty of life for this particular device.

Foldables are here to stay.

Samsung is clearly all into foldable phones. And it seems that the company has most things in its third generation of phones with folding screens.

Both of these phones are available for pre-order on Samsung's website, so if one of them interests you, you might want to lock it down before the August 26 launch date.

Additionally, the company is offering a $200 Samsung credit with the purchase of a Galaxy Z Fold 3 or a $150 Samsung credit with a Galaxy Z spin, as long as you plan.
