Inputting+:A Universal Android Undo/Redo App

Undo/redo and find/replace are the two main pillars behind me as a programmer today, or of course with a blogger. I'm sure most people would support me when I say that Ctrl+Z (Undo) and Ctrl+Y (Redo) are two of the most important keyboard shortcuts on our desktops after copy-paste.

A few days ago we talked about how to make copy and paste functionality easier on Android and it really saved us time. Today I am going to talk about an amazing app launched on play store just few days ago which brings undo-redo and find-replace feature on your Android. The app name is Inputting+. So let's go ahead and install it from the Play Store.

Note: The app is supported on Android v5.0 Lollipop and later, and users of Kitkat and below may not even see the app on the Play Store.

After installing and initializing the app, it will ask you to grant it accessibility option in your Android. Settings menu. This permission is required for the tool to read text you type in other applications.

Using the Undo and Redo functions.

Once you have activated the settings, it is time to test the product. Open Mail or any app where you can enter text. As soon as you see the keyboard, you will see a small bubble on the right edge. Your Inputting+ bubble will help you.

The app will save every change you made to the text field and whenever you feel you need to undo something, just tap on the Input+ bubble and you will get the Undo and Redo button. Use the corresponding button to go back and accept the changes.

You also get the app's find and replace functionality. Suppose you are working on a document and you need to replace a word or phrase with different text. The app does it for you with just one click, nice and easy.

Is it a keylogger? It's safe, but the app doesn't use any network communication, so the saved data always stays on your device. But keep a note on future updates.

Additional Features

There is an additional feature in the app that can manage your clipboard history for you. You will need to install an additional app from the Play Store called Clip Stack. It's completely free and even ad-free. After activating the extension, you will be able to see everything you have copied to Android's clipboard and can select the text you want to paste.

Note: Copy/Paste functionality is controlled by the secondary application and simply functions as an extension for the Inputting+ application.

I'm sure the app has already impressed you enough. But with just $0.99, you get the added feature that will let the app record everything you type. Suppose the Word document you were working on crashed or gave a forced close notification, the application will be able to recover whatever you have been working on.

The size and transparency of Inputting+ can be controlled from the app settings so you can configure it according to your needs. I have it small with 50% transparency. Another good thing about the app is that you only see the control orb when typing text and not throughout.

Conclusion

So that was pretty much all about Inputting+. Now you can undo those Oops moments and also correct a series of errors on a document using the application. And of course, the Clip Stack integration is like the icing on a delicious chocolate cake.
