Many of us here in the US subscribe to Comcast Xfinity for cable, Wi-Fi, and/or home phone service. Unfortunately, since Comcast has an unavoidable monopoly in many areas, many of us have to deal with Xfinity issues as well. The good news is that you don't have to always call Comcast customer support every time you have a problem with your service.

In addition to being able to pay your bills and manage services, it has a handy troubleshooting feature for any issues you might encounter. Whether your Wi-Fi isn't working or your cable is jammed, you can walk through the steps and even troubleshoot directly from the app.
If you're having trouble with your Comcast Xfinity TV service, you can tap TV in the My Account app to see the list of available troubleshooting options.
Note: If you have more than one TV in your home connected to an Xfinity receiver, you will first need to choose which TV you want to repair.
When I first upgraded to the Xfinity X1 service, I had issues with the cable box freezing occasionally for no reason. I would often resort to this My Account app to quickly restart it, which you can always do here by tapping Restart this device .
If your problem is a bit more complicated, you can press Troubleshoot in place. It will first ask you what the problem is. On Demand may not be working, your decoder is just acting strange, or you get an error message. Either way, you can select the problem and Comcast will automatically try to fix it for you. It will ask you if the core services did the trick and if not, you can continue troubleshooting.
Ultimately, most basic issues can be fixed by restarting the device, but you can also schedule repairs if needed. You can still watch free movies and TV shows online while you wait.
If you're having problems with the Internet or Wi-Fi, the amount of troubleshooting that can be done in the app is a little less extensive than for TV issues. In the the Internet tab, you can press Restart device to restart your router. Believe it or not, this simple trick can actually fix a ton of connectivity issues.
Alternatively, you can tap Common problems and solutions for a handy list of frequently asked questions, answers and guides. It's less intuitive than Comcast being able to automatically fix the problem remotely, but it's still useful if you're willing to read on and possibly take on the work yourself.

, the Xfinity My Account app doesn't offer much to fix the issues you're having. In the
Voice
tab, you can press
Common problems and solutions
to read something that might help you, for example if you're having trouble setting up voicemail. However, the app will not be able to remotely fix anything related to Xfinity Voice.
It is important to remember that sometimes the problem you are having is not limited to your home. That's why as soon as you open the My Account app, Comcast will let you know if there are any outages in your area that could affect service quality. If so, it is not your responsibility to resolve the issues, but they are usually resolved within a few hours.
