How to Use the New iPhone App Privacy Report

Information is power, and if you're an iPhone user, you can now get more insight into how often your apps access your data (eg. , your location or your microphone). The App Privacy Report, which became available with iOS 15.2, also lets you know the web activity of each app and the domains they are associated with.

The feature is disabled by default, but if your phone has been updated to iOS 15.2, it's very easy to enable it:

  • Go to Settings>Privacy>App Privacy Report (which will be at the bottom of the screen)
  • Select "Enable app privacy reporting"

After that, you can follow the same series of selections to see your report. (You can also use this shortcut for faster access directly from your home screen or a Siri voice command.)

You won't see any data right away:it takes time for your phone to collect the data and put together the report, but you can start seeing the results in just a few minutes. The report will tell you the following:

  • Which applications have accessed your data in the last seven days. If you tap on any of the apps listed, you'll be able to see exactly when the last accesses were. You'll probably have to browse a few pages.
