Messenger Stories debuted as Messenger Day and was later renamed to Stories to remove any ambiguity between Facebook and Messenger Stories. Since then, Facebook has supported natural cross-posting of stories between Facebook and Messenger. However, that doesn't mean you get the same features.

Facebook and Messenger stories differ in many ways. We have already covered Facebook Stories tips and tricks. So here we are going to tell you how to use Facebook Messenger stories like a pro with these tips and tricks.

Let's start.

1. Pause story

Stories on all platforms play like a slideshow — automatically appearing one after the other. Sometimes the story is so good that we want to enjoy it with our heart and soul. In such cases, you can pause a story. To do this, long press the screen to pause the story.

2. Change story

To quickly skip to the next story from the same person, tap the right side of the story, and to go back, tap the left side. To completely skip the story to the next person, swipe the screen to the left. And to view the previous person's story, swipe right. Thanks to these gestures, you don't have to torture yourself to see all the stories.

3. Switch cameras quickly

Pressing the camera icon to switch between front or back is sometimes annoying. As an alternative, you can switch between cameras by simply double tapping the screen – works in photo and video mode.

4. Zoom while recording

Another thing that is problematic when creating a story is the zoom feature in the videos. Although you can use the pinch gesture to zoom, you need to use two fingers to do so. To make things easier, you can hold and drag the record button up and down while recording to zoom in and out.

5. Change font

Unlike Instagram and WhatsApp which allow you to change the font, the feature is currently missing from Messenger Stories. However, if you want to change the font, there are two ways to do it.

Method 1

Open the image in the Facebook story and tap the Aa icon at the top, then enter the text. Then tap on the font style name to cycle through the different fonts.

Note: Since Facebook and Messenger stories are cross-posted, you can use Facebook to change fonts when creating a story. Top 15 Tips and Tricks for Facebook Messenger Stories Top 15 Tips and Tricks for Facebook Messenger Stories

Method 2

You can use websites like Cool Symbol and Lingojam to generate fancy font styles. Type the text in these sites, copy the generated text in unique fonts and paste it into a Messenger story.

On Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook stories, you can use any color on the color palette to fill the screen. This works differently for Messenger Stories.

14. Silent and non-silent history

Facebook Messenger is not limited to your Facebook friends. Anyone on Facebook can message you. Most of the time, these would end up in the Message Requests folder. But if you've interacted with someone outside of your friends list or plan to, their stories will appear in the stories list on Messenger.

To avoid watching these stories, you'll usually avoid tapping their story icon. However, these stories are still part of the slideshow when you tap on a story before the one you want to skip. What do you do then? Do not worry. Use the Mute or Hide option to avoid such stories. Once you do, those stories won't appear in the story bar or slideshow. Say goodbye to unintended views.

To mute or hide a story, long press the profile picture icon with a live story. Select Hide Story from the menu. Alternatively, open the story you want to mute and tap the three-dot icon in the top-right corner. Select Silent Story.
