Eufy RoboVac 30C Robot Vacuum Review

Of all the gadgets that can make your home "smart", a robot vacuum cleaner is the one I find really useful. Since moving into a new house five years ago, I've used several robot cleaners — some bad and some good. I really appreciate the time it frees me from one of my most hated household chores. I was happy to check out the Eufy RoboVac 30C Robot Cleaner.

The dustbin is placed at the back of the cleaner and you have to press the latch to remove it.

The bin has a capacity of 0.6L, which is a standard size for most cleaners. For regular cleaning, you'll probably need to empty the trash can at least once a week.

To control the robot cleaner, you must use the remote control. There is no text or explanation on each button on the remote, so you will have to guess what each button does.

The "Fan" button on the remote control to control the suction power of the cleaner. The Robovac 30C comes with three levels of suction power. Although thanks to its BoostIQ technology it can automatically adjust the suction power if necessary, you can manually adjust the suction power so that it uses more / less energy to clean your place.

Application synchronization configuration

Eufy provides a EufyHome app that you can use to control the robot remotely. You can also use the app to schedule the robot to run at a certain time every day.

1. Install the app from the Play Store or App Store.

2. You will need to create an Eufy account. If you already have an account, just log in.

Performance

The first thing I noticed when the cleaner was running was its low suction volume. Of all the robot cleaners I've used, this one has the lowest volume (or noise, you might prefer to call it). Sometimes you won't even notice it's working because it's barely audible in the other room. It is amazing that it has a strong suction power of 1500 Pa while maintaining a low noise level.

Another thing I noticed is that its slim profile allows it to easily fit under the bed or closet without any issues. While unboxing I could feel and see that it was light and thin, but it wasn't until I started using it that I realized how lose weight he is.

The Robovac 30C comes with a voice assistant so you can control it with your Google Home or Amazon Echo. Something like "Alexa, ask Robovac to start cleaning ” will activate the robot. I'm not a fan of home assistants, so I couldn't test this feature.

RoboVac 30C does not use any mapping technology to clean the floor. It uses random movement, which means it will go in a straight line until it hits the wall (or other obstacle), then turn in its direction and go in a straight line again until it hits the wall. he hits another wall. There's no way of knowing if he's cleaned the whole house.

However, for a quick test, I sprinkled tiny pieces of paper all over the house, and when the cleaning was done, all the paper was picked up by the cleaner. So it passed the cleaning test. The only exception was paper (or dirt) placed at the far edge of the wall. The Robovac 30C has a collision sensor, so it will stop inches from an edge or object, making it ineffective at cleaning edges.

One issue I've encountered is that after cleaning there are times when it can't find its way back to the charging station. Due to its random movement, it will continue to spin around like a headless chicken trying to detect the location of the charging station. When it runs out of battery, it will die halfway in the doorway, waiting for you to bring it back.

Also, it takes much longer (than other robot cleaners) to clean the whole place. I don't live in a large area and it usually takes most robot cleaners about forty five minutes to clean the place. For RoboVacs 30C, it can sometimes take up to ninety minutes and not complete its task.

Advantages

  • Low void volume
  • Low profile
  • Strong suction, able to pick up dirt and clean the whole place

The disadvantages

  • No mapping system
  • Random cleaning
  • Spends a lot of time returning to base

Conclusion

One thing I really like about the RoboVac 30C is its extremely low noise level and low height profile. Its cleaning ability is comparable to other robot cleaners, although the ability to return to its base after cleaning needs improvement. Other than that, the RoboVac 30C is a rock-solid robot cleaner for worry-free cleaning.
